Kristin Swan has over 30 years experience in the field of social work. She is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed for independent practice in the State of Missouri and State of Kansas. She is the owner of Swan Therapeutic Services and is a solo practitioner.
Ms. Swan has a commitment to her clients by providing therapy/counseling with in-depth practical approaches for enhancing their lives and changing unhelpful patterns. Clients work with her to not only understand themselves but also to devise practical solutions to their problems. She helps clients discern what is important to them and foster and nurture their efforts toward what matters.
Alongside counseling, Kristin offers three specialized methods that work with the brain and nervous system to support healing.
EMDR is a structured, research-supported therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories. Using bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements or gentle tapping, painful experiences can lose their emotional charge and feel more like the past.
It is commonly used for trauma and PTSD, anxiety, panic, grief, and negative beliefs about oneself.
Brainspotting, developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, uses specific eye positions, or "brainspots," to access experiences held deep in the brain and body. Holding focus on that point while staying attuned with your therapist allows the nervous system to process and release what talk therapy alone may not reach.
It can help with trauma, anxiety, emotional blocks, chronic stress, and performance concerns.
Alpha-Stim is an FDA-cleared medical device that uses cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES). A low-level microcurrent is delivered through soft ear clips, helping the brain shift toward a calmer, more relaxed state.
It is used for anxiety, insomnia, and depression, and can be combined with therapy or used on its own.
Separation changes a family's shape, not its importance. Kristin helps parents and families communicate more clearly, reduce conflict, and make decisions together.
A trained, neutral monitor is present for parenting time ordered by the court or agreed between parents. Visits are calm, structured, and focused on the child's comfort and safety.
Each parent completes a separate intake before visits begin. We review court orders, set ground rules, and agree on a schedule that works for the family.
Kristin provides clinical supervision for social workers completing their supervised hours toward independent licensure.
Kristin offers guidance and consultation to therapists starting their own practices, drawing on her experience building Swan Therapeutic Services. Sessions focus on helping you understand the steps and make informed decisions; the setup work itself stays with you.
Self-pay rates are available for therapy, supervision, and mediation. Superbills can be provided for out-of-network reimbursement. $125 for 45-60 minute session.
